Day three of March Music Madness 2013 brought some new surprises! It was the first time we’ve had an absolute 50/50 tie and had to go to the phones and internet to break it.
Here are yesterday’s winners and today’s new competitors.
(11) Beach Boys 75% vs (54) Otis Redding 25%. The Boys beached Otis Redding all the way to the dock of the bay…with a resounding win and move on to round two of the MMM13.
(12) Marvin Gaye 75% vs (53) Everly Brothers 25%. What’s Goin’ On is that Marvin Gaye clobbered the Brothers…with three times as many votes. Marvin moves to round two to take on a new challenger next week…
(13) Bruce Springsteen 62% vs (52) The Temptations 38%. Bruce “bossed” around the Temps and beat them pretty soundly. He’ll be going to the next round to take on another artist in our March Music Madness 13 competition.
(14) Bob Dylan 49% vs (51) Lionel Richie 51%. It was close…but, Lionel gets the win. So far there has only been one battle closer than this one and we’ll share that one with you a little later. Lionel was so happy he was said to be “dancing on the ceiling” with joy!
(15) James Brown 50% vs (50) Kenny Rogers 50%. This was it…the closest race we’ve ever had. We had to go to the phones to get 5 minutes of votes and break the tie. The winner was James Brown by one vote. The Godfather of Soul will be going into round two – HEEEEYYYY! I Feel Good!
(16) U2 75% vs (49) Guns N Roses 25%. Guns weren’t loaded and Bono and the boys tripled the votes of their foes with 75%…a solid win and they punch their ticket to the next round of MMM13.
(17) Whitney Houston 71% vs (48) The Carpenters 29%. The late great Whitney Houston still continues to compete from beyond the grave as she handily beats brother and sister Richard and Karen to move on in the race for Best Entertainer of All Time.
(18) Ray Charles 63% vs (47) George Michael 37%. Ray see his way to the next round when he put the WHAMMY on George and prepares for his next challenge in round two.
